Holliston Youth Field Hockey currently has four age divisions covering Kindergarten through 6th grade:
All divisions focus on skill development while teaching the rules and fundamentals of the game of field hockey.
Kindergarten Clinic: Wednesdays from 4:30-5:30 with grade 1 & 2 but do no participate in Saturday league games.
Fall Travel Team
All travel teams participate in the Commonwealth Field Hockey League and play games on Saturdays against surrounding towns.
Little Panthers (1st & 2nd Grade):
Practice on Wednesdays from 4:30-5:30. Games on Saturdays - TBD times and location.
Sticklers (3rd & 4th Grade):
Practices on Mondays & Wednesdays from 4:30-5:30. Games on Saturdays - TBD times and location.
Juniors (5th-6th Grade):
Practices on Mondays & Wednesdays from 4:30-5:30. Games on Saturday - TBD times and location.
Travel Teams will be invited to participate in a League wide Jamboree at the end of the season. The Commonwealth Jamboree is typically held the first weekend in November. Location and exact date/time TBD. An additional fee will apply for those interested in participating once the league releases more information.

What to wear & bring...
Comfortable athletic apparel
Shin guards and mouth guard
Cleats (or sneakers) for grass or turf fields
Water bottle
Field hockey stick
Optional: Goggles (all ages) and defensive corner face masks (grade 5+)

Please note: Each player will receive a reversible pinnie to use during practice that will be returned at the end of the season. Uniforms will be available for purchase, as needed, for new or returning players.

What is "Select" Team?
What is "Select" Team?
This year we are hoping to participate in the Commonwealth League's Friday night Select Team league with a Junior 5/6 Select Team. This team can be composed of players in grades up to 6th grade (meaning 4th graders can play)!
Select players must practice and play for their regular travel team. This isn't an either/or, you have to be fully committed to your Saturday team as well. Select players would play an additonal game on Friday evenings and also play with their regular teammates on Saturday.
There will be an additional fee to join the select team. The fee will be determined based on the cost to register the team to play which has yet to be announced by the League.
Select teams are for a higher caliber of play, larger programs typically hold tryouts. Depending on interest there may be a selections process to complete the team roster.

Why do age groups cost different amounts to register?
The cost for the age group is driven by the game day cost. Kindergartners only practice, no games - so their cost is the lowest. Grade 1/2 and Grade 3/4 play on a modified field (60x40) and have youth high school refs. Grade 5/6 plays full field and is required to have one or two adult refs which is the highest cost to cover.

Uniform ordering information will be distributed to all registered players in the coming months. If you worried you missed it, check here. This year we will be doing a self-serve store front so you can purchase your own uniform directly.
Practive pinnies are handed out to each player at the first practice and expected to be returned on the last practice.

Unfortunately, we don't have the numbers or coaches to support a 7/8 Travel team this year. We recommend registering to play with Medway Youth Field Hockey through thier parks and recreation department.

It is never to late to start! We LOVE new players and have been impressed time and time again by athletes picking up a stick for the first time and being natural. If your child is looking for a great sport and a fun atmosphere to thrive in - give it a shot!
